The IT security landscape has rapidly changed over the recent years. First, after the COVID-19 disruption necessitated work-from-anywhere norms, remote access to enterprise data had to be provisioned almost overnight. This brought infosec models like zero-trust security and multi-factor authentication into the mainstream. Infosec leaders had to burn gallons of midnight oil to make that happen.
The second change catalyst has been even more potent. It has been the maturing of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and their multi-pronged impact on the infosec landscape. True, AI helps infosec leaders gain better and quicker insights into the threat landscape and device better policies and frameworks to guard the fuzzy boundaries. However, at the same time, cyber threat actors are also able to lay their hands on AI with equal ease and weaponize it for launching more sophisticated attacks on enterprise information networks.
The threat actors are not individuals or small group anymore. Organized cybercrime syndicates are reportedly active round-the-clock in different parts of the world. Worse, some of them are even proxies of rouge states and are therefore backed by huge funds as well as human and technological resources. Even large multinationals and governments are not spared.
It is in such an arduously challenging environment that CISOs and their teams relentlessly work to defend their organizations from a barrage of onslaughts. In order to stay one-up against the attackers, infosec leaders also need to upskill and new skill themselves on a continuous basis. These backroom warriors leave no stone unturned to ensure safe access and business continuity for their enterprise and their customers.
For the last 13 years, it has been BitStream Mediaworks’ endeavour to hold an annual awards ceremony where the leading CISOs are felicitated by well-known industry luminaries. This year, come November, and we will be holding the award function in Delhi / NCR.
